Programme aims and study partners

The Master’s degree programme of Social technology management is aimed to train high quality business and management specialists and social entrepreneurs by developing their knowledge and skills of new and distinctive socio-economic-technological processes, ongoing in the knowledge society, the impact of new and emerging technologies on social processes, and to develop practical management skills needed to recognize and successfully apply the potential of new and emerging technologines (from fundamentali research and practice) in developing, shaping and managing organizations, such as private companies, NGOs and social enterprises, succesful community initiatives and similar.

The detailed objectives of the programme (defined in Table 1) are worked out with reference to the requirements of Dublin descriptors. These objectives are consistent with the requirements for professionals who are able to organize, manage and apply integrated knowledge in economic, cultural, political and social activities, using the latest technological approaches and methods. The specialist will be able to assess social and developmental issues and internal and external factors affecting them, validate an innovative solution to the problem and implement it in practice, using design and management methods of new technologies. The programme objectives are viewed from the point of social technologies and reflect the impact of globalization factors on complex social, economic, cultural and technological environments.

1. To develop a new generation of Masters in Business who have acquired integrated competencies of innovative social development of business and social entrepreneurship and being able to comprehensively and  completely organize, develop and improve creative and sustainable business and social competetiveness initiatives in technologised social environments and new media contexts.

 

1.1. Demonstrates knowledge of impact of social technologies on the development of creative knowledge-based society, understands conceptually and methodologically how social technologies influence transformations of comprehensive economic activities and social developments, assumptions, concepts, factors, needs and characteristics of their increasing impact and penetration.

1.2. Develops original ideas on how social technologies form contemporary business and social entrepreneurship space, structure and value chains, how business assumptions, factors and demands  of social technologies  are formed in the environment of globalization challenges.

2.To develop interdisciplinary business and social entrepreneurship competencies, which can create various forms of an integrated enterprise by combining business technologies and social technologies, that tune up an effective social competetiveness and social re-creation and meaning making of classical corporate business as well as develop an understand of social competetiveness as part of economic competetiveness at all levels of globalised economies of the contemporary world.

 

2.1 Is able to scientifically analyze  creative application of technologies and assess their development opportunities, support and develop innovative ideas in the media industry and their creative implementation solutions, implement creative media technology projects, by integrating acquired knowledge in new and unfamiliar environments and globalized multicultural contexts.

2.2. Is able to develop competencies that provide a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of social technologies and their methodologies in unfamiliar, complex and changing social environments that create   innovative ideas for social technologies and   increase their socioeconomic and entrepreneurshipapplication performance.

3. To develop a future-oriented approach to modern business and societal developments and their relationship with the technological modernization in the conditions of globalization challenges in the area of social, knowledge, creative economy contexts by integrating   communication, social, economic and media technology knowledge and practical application skills in general knowledge, cultural and creative economy contexts in order to increase the competitiveness of the society.

 

3.1. Is able to understand and adapt the principles of sustainable development of social development to maintain the sustainability in technological environments, using new media and other modern forms of communication, enabling to combine a range of social control and social responsibility issues into a new and efficient multilevel business and societal organization structures.

4. To provide social technology communication skills, that create economic, social, public and business values, to shape communication environments for technological solutions, to enhance social technology application skills in different activities.

5. To develop modern working forms  based on information and communication technology and  research methodologies and scientific research information selection and its structuring and  self-development skills.

Is able to get a focused and self-interest in business of social technologies and state of the art communication technology management approaches, to develop the concept of social technologies and reveal their perspective, increasing the competitiveness of the society in globalization conditions.

One of the key requirements for professionals is the establishment of the values of the Social technology management  programme, by linking the learning outcomes with the European Union and Lithuanian society's development goals and global competitiveness, public welfare, democracy and sustainable networking perspective. Equally important is the fact that the aims of the programme are formed on the basis of the knowledge triangle principles which aim to integrate the latest scientific achievements into innovative studies, striving for innovation, research and experimental development performance and business application in practice.

The subject “Postmodern philosopy” will introduce the students to social and philosophical movement of postmodernism and equip them with the necessary critical thinking insights enabling to understand the nature of the contemporary society. “Social anthropology” subject will allow further development of understanding of social structures and dynamics that underlie social consciousness and social behavior enabling the students to reflect critically about the social construction of reality, its evolution and the impact of technologies in society. Number of subjects, such as “New technologies and Management of Social Innovations” and “Ecodesign and strategies for networked organizations” will provide the students with a broad understanding of social dynamics of change and innovation taking in mind both business and social competetiveness, the role and social impact of new technologies in these processes and specific conditions that optimize the strategies of networked organizations, while modeling their activities and implementing projects reflecting the principles of sustainable development and social consciousness. The subjects “Social software and cloud internet” and “Digital and Social Marketing” as well as “Modeling of complex systems and gamefication”, “Cluster development technologies”, “Creative industries”, “Mass Media and Public Relations technologies”, “Legal environment of electronic business”, and “Risk Management for Mega Events” will equip the students with specific technical, communication, marketing and project management knowledge and skills enabling to use modern technologies in initiating new business initiatives, re-designing current business activities, generating new projects and societal initiatives that would contribute to business and social entrepreneurship and competitiveness. The subject “Leadership and Management in Knowledge Society” is designed to develop qualities necessary for today’s leader with particular focus on management practices that would correspond to the needs and challenges of the information society. “Research Methodology of Social Technologies” and the “Master thesis” will equip the students with the social research competences and skills necessary to carry out a scientific research. As part of the “Master thesis” workshops groups of students will be implementing real life projects, such as of a business and social companies, and a social entrepreneurship and cummunity initiatives.
